Olympus

Ask ChatGPT about your own mail, files and notes.

Olympus is a private knowledge engine that runs on your Mac. ChatGPT can ask it questions. Your data stays on your Mac.

What it does

Olympus reads the sources you choose, starting with files and notes on your Mac, then accounts you already have such as Gmail, Google Drive and Dropbox. It builds a search index on your Mac. When you ask ChatGPT something like "what did Sam send me about the lease?", ChatGPT asks Olympus, and Olympus answers with citations to your own items.

The four tiers

TierExamplesCan ChatGPT see it?
PublicNewsletters, published articles, saved web pagesYes, when it helps answer your question
PersonalEveryday mail, meeting notes, plans, receipts for ordinary purchasesYes, when it helps answer your question
PrivateHealth, money, legal and identity mattersNo. Answered on your Mac, or withheld
SecretPasswords, recovery codes, private keysNo. Never read by any model

Olympus judges each item on its own, not each folder or account. If a question can only be answered from Private items, ChatGPT is told that the answer stays on your Mac and is given nothing else.
